Phosphors

February 2003

(The recent past or how infomercials killed abstraction)

Is it super late or already early? The TV, one of those Cathode Ray types, set to some already lost channel screams final minutes of multicolored broadcast Barnett breathe before its end, eventually giving itself up to the white snow of static and noise (it seems Pollock you always win). My Polaroid baby takes a closer look, and tells me what it sees...

Oh Rothko! Who would have thought the "breath of life" you longed for would be found in the last gasp of a TV broadcast.

RIP to you both.
